clutch acting weird could be the cable or?
« on: August 16, 2012, 11:43:41 PM »
Ok I got off the highway and my clutch was slipping I was worried I couldnt get a block or two to even find a place to pull over. After each stop though it got a little better. Now when Im driving in the city stop and go, every so often I feel the clutch pedal come up higher than ormal and start to grab way at the top or end of the pedal travel. Then its normal again all the way to where Im going. Does this just mean ts a tthe point where it needs to be adjusted, the cable stretching or snagging internally? I remember sometimes there was a `catch` in it when I depressed the pedal you could hear a little clunk. Or is something else? Throwout bearing pressure plate disk?

 Never had this before.

I tried searching this online but all I find is clutch pedal not comming back up and I know most cars have hydraulic systems now. So its going to be real difficult to search through all the sites and hope to find anything so will someone please tell me if they had this before or wha tthey think it might be?

Guess ill adjust it first then change the cable and if that doesnt resolve it have the whole clutch replaced.

And hopefully its not a weak fork or something I never saw one out of a car so I dont know how theyre made.

I was wondering about that before because sometimes when I pressed down the pedal there was a little clunk you could feel and hear it. Whats weird though is most of the time when the pedal doesnt come up higher, it grabs fine. I guess it could be the cable anyway, after I adjust it ill let you know if it goes away or not. Then another new cable it seems if they dont tear apart a that rubber stopper at the nd you finally get a metal ne and they do this.Maybe I should just 3 or 4 cheap ones. Now that I learned (on my own) how to replace them.
