Hott coil? No spark?
« on: November 04, 2012, 01:53:41 PM »
Car got weak turn over from low battery while I was trying to troubleshoot

So I put the charger on full blast and cranked over.......... .............. .wouldn't run

felt the coil and not even been 30 secs with the charger on and the coils burning hott

I dont have points but I quess I blew the coil some how.

If the coil got hot the windings inside are probably fried. I had one that would start and go about a mile and die, coil piping hot, let it cool for an hour, would start and go about a mile and die again. Thankfully coils are cheap.
