hood length?

tryying to buy a cowl for the hood i ordered but i dont know the dimensions of a regular 79 hood can anyone help out?

The hood length varies as the part toward the cowl is not straight but curves and the center above the grille "sticks out" farther than the sides, so you have 38 1/2 inch on the sides and 39" in the middle but the peak and curve must be taken into account. The width is also varies as the front is 41 1/4 wide but at the top it is 42" but the hood has a raised portion almost like a scoop which these measurements include. Also the measurements above include about a 1/2 inch lip over the grille where the hood tucks under. I would wait until the hood comes and go from there. I like the '79 and '80 front ends the best.
