Help with a mystery gizzard...

Anyone enlighten me on if this goes on my pinto? Came in the extra parts, with the car, but has no markings or part number.

It looks to be the metal mounting bracket for the hood release and a pickup point for the grill mounting in the center.

To quote the late and great Nimoy, "That would be logical.". As I don't have a latch or anything but those stupid hood pins. Need to find a hood with out a the 15" hole cut in it, and all that latch stuff. Thanks guys.

I am missing a few parts in the hood latch area, but this didn't match any existing bolt pattern in there. Or anywhere on the sheet metal under the hood. I need a few scooby snacks.
