Title: Help Identifying an old camshaft
Post by: dave1987 on February 05, 2012, 03:38:25 PM
Not sure if I posted this already, but I cannot find any old posts asking the question. If I did already, here I go again...

Back when my brother blew up the 2.3L in my 78 Sedan, he was planning to rebuild the motor, and purchased a camshaft, which is a Blue Racer (not sure if it is Crane Cams or Wolverine). Me and my cousin (who helped rebuild the motor) only remember the box for the shaft saying "Blue Racer". The shaft was purchased in the early 2000s, (thinking either 2001 or 2002).

The only number I can find is on the rear of the shaft, which is 940929, and between the first and second lobes, there is a casted code "D4", which may be "DA".

I am considering putting the shaft back in (it's a non roller cam), instead of using the '92 Mustang roller cam I have in the car now, if it can give me a little more performance.

Thank you Matt! I emailed Crane and they keep telling me to find more numbers on one of the cam ends. The six digit number is the only one I can see, other than a faint "999", but I am seriously doubting it is relevant.
