how to remove seat belt
« on: May 13, 2012, 06:13:24 PM »
I'm replacing the carpet in my '78 Pinto and am having a problem figuring out how to remove the lower part of the seat belt assembly where in blots to the floor. Any suggestion/ help?

There is the cover that goes over the bolt. I believe it is a torx t-45 or t-50 to remove it. I could recommend getting the torx bit set from the parts store. They come in a 3/8 drive so you can use your ratchet to remove it. The same size works for the buckle and the bolt that holds the belt to the floor.

Thank you! I just needed the right tool, amazing how that helps. P.S.. I got the carpet from stock interiors and it was an absolutely perfect fit. Funny when I removed the back seat cushion I found a Bubblicious wrapper, coins, a bag of faucet screens and what appears to be a joint! She must of been a fun ride.

You're welcome, glad to be of help.  ;D  I will keep Stock Interiors in mind when it comes time to replace the carpet in my 77. It's always interesting what you find when you lift the carpet isn't it? That's cool you have a 78. I liked the design of the 77-78s more than the other years.
