Thats exactly how i wanna build the subframe connectors on my bobcat with 1 addition I wanna build a bolt in section towards the rear of them that runs from side to side of the car with a Driveshaft safety loop. It will not only be for saftey itll also help stiffen the chassis even more till i can get a cage built.

that's a good idea. I have been trying to think of a way to put something across the back of the car like that. never thought of having a driveshaft loop as part of it.
Maybe weld the tubing/channel and have the loop bolt on to that?

Since the rear seats are for insurance purposes only and the rear footwells are unused i actually went internal on the sub frame connectors and will be tying them in to the cage set to arrive in a couple weeks. doing so allowed me to use 1x2 box tubing run straight back from the front rail 90 over to the rear mount at the back of the floorpan and triangulate back to the main piece and not have to cut the floors .  BTW timmay Competition Eng has a pinto specific main hoop for like 50 bucks to which you can add a bar kit. i went 8 point and the whole deal including the hoop was 215 bucks canadian from the local stealer.

OhSix,
I only got 3.5 hours sleep and can't quite picture how you ran the connectors. Do you have any pictures? Where and how are the fronts connected?
My visualising this just isn't working right now.
Thanks,
Russ

My firts idea of how i wanna do the driveshaft loop is sumthing like this.

6 inchs of tube welded onto each subframe connector with a 1/4 inch piece of plate welded on the end with bolt holes in it on the other end. The center section would be bent to fit around the driveshaft on the bottom side of it with 1/4 inch plates on each end of it with bolt holes. Around the top of the driveshaft would be a 1/8 piece of plate cut so that its 1 1/2 inch wide and bent to fit around the top of the driveshaft  but with a flat tab on each end with a bolt hole in them so it can be bolted to the center section of tubing.

Heres an idea picture

I looked at those cages thats pretty cheap i was looking at a 10pt cages but it was around 600. An well a 8 point would do what i need it to. thanks for tellin me about those.

I always thought the driveshaft hoop should go on the front, (thats where mine is) because if the front u-joint breaks it keeps the shaft from spearing into the track and causing you to do an end-O. A rear one will keep the shaft from going through the floor but it won't contain the front. Or do you guys use both? Good idea to help tie the rear of the car together though.
If you don't have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?

Yeah, for safety you need one up front. I would use one in back just as a way to run the cross support and not have to try and bend tubing to fit around the driveshaft.

i have mine kinda center maybe back a couple inches. its set so which ever end came loose it will contain the shaft and not let it on the ground. if either end would let go you could have a helicopter in the cock pit if they could get out of the tunnel and grab something.

my buddys old 4x4 blazer used to puke the rear u joint out alot cause he wouldnt let me cut and re-weld the mounting brackets so the pinion angle was really harsh LOL it needed a rear driveshaft loop.
I didnt plan on running it right at the rear i was just gunna run it closer to the rear prolly mid shaft since the driveshafts arent really that long anyhow. My driveshaft will prolly be a little shorter anyhow since im goin from a c3 to a T5 and a 8.8 rearend instead of the 6 3/4.

I'm wondering how well these bolt-on Mustang II connecters will work on a Pinto.

I don't know. I was looking at them for my II project, sent the guy an email asking a couple of questions, one being where does the rear of them bolt on the car, and never got an answer.
The II front leaf spring mounts are bolt on's. I believe the Pinto's are all welded on. I think the stumpy's ones bolt to the II's front leaf spring mounts. ???
