Title: Heater

My "new" wagon, Moxie BluBelle, is a '74 Squire with the 2.3 and 4-speed.  I'm thinking about driving her cross-country much like I did in 2011 with Ruby. The issue here is while Ruby has a working heater, Moxie does not. I ran Ruby's heater as we both were traveling through the hotter states of Virginia, Tennessee, and Arkansas because I understand running the heater helps keep the engine from overheating. Because Moxie has a bigger engine and her heater hoses are disconnected from the heater core, can this be a problem driving through those hot areas? If it is maybe I can get someone to replace the heater core. Thank you all.  ;D

Becky, I think I would go ahead and have it fixed.. Maybe even have your radiator checked over as well. I've done the same thing with the heater in the past to help cool my engine traveling through AZ.

That's what I was thinking too! I actually was about to do the heater core myself... then I came to my senses!  :o

I'll even let you drive the 79 turbo wagon and my 71 pro street Pinto.

I doubt it, but we'll see. Sally, the smooth collie, is a spaz. The trip would be a lot more fun with them on board, that's for sure! I have to be careful, though... in Memphis I stopped at a truck stop to catch a few zzzs and it was all but impossible because of Ruby being hot (well-named, huh? lol) plus the hot and humid night. I don't want the girls to get too hot.  :P

Been there and done that for sure... Not much fun. If you come by, we wont make you sleep in the car.

I stuck one of these in my '76 wagon because it ran 195 degrees or more all the time. It hasn't hit 180 degrees since I put it in & during the winter I can't get it above 150 even with a tiny 13" fan up front.
