OK, thinking of a header for the Pinto. Thought that when I was looking for one for the Mustang II. This is what I found, does anyone know which of these would go in easy?

Knowing that you want to finish up the car and never have to worry later about later blowing out a header gasket later I would use a manifold off a later ford ranger , it flows like a header gives plenty of room and will last until Im dead and gone, and putting the 2.3 EFI into the car that has been redone ground up should last another 43 years, so putting the right trouble free parts for long life is a pluss

That's the one I use on my racer. Only bad thing is its heavy but will last a life time.

Cut the head flanges to be separate pipes and you will never lose a gasket. Since I started doing it I never lost one ever, could even often reuse them if they were installed with antiseize to let them pop loose easily. Sometimes the head flats have to be cleaned up slightly, I used either a dremel or 4 inch disc grinder if needed, the hand grind work after the weld work there is done very haphazardly sometimes and you need to level off the flats a little better there. I never lost a gasket on my 2.3 and the header stayed on for years.
The main life issue I've found on headers is how long the collector lasts at the main weld where all four pipes join up, the center X inside rusts out the quickest since it tends to hold water in place.

I have a lot of stuff to buy yet and a lot of work to do on the car. It's a good start. I can take it on the track next month I think. They may open up on Wednesday.

That almost looks like the ranger 2.3 one I have in the shed. Still waiting for time to put it on!

Cool Dave! When you coming down? The car is still in the paint shop waiting for the last 3 coats :) Blocked sanded though!

X2 on the flange separation.
I would cringe at buying a used header online, without a good inspection. But now that my eyes are poozling out, not sure that would help either.
Is it for the pinto or the m2?
If it's for racing, wouldn't you want the long ones?

Either one it fits in. Longer would be better, but this is better than what's in the II now. I needed headers bad and these may work :)
