Title: has anyone replaced their headliner?

The project seems simple enough, but any panel removal and insulation advice would be helpful.

Use duck tape to hold the headliner, and shave fur where you apply the tape. Use hot glue for the dingle balls.

What? No furry headliner?

They are pretty typical. If you are using the original rods, bend them back out a little, so that they sit in the holes with some outward tension. Be sure to scrape and clean the areas along the edge where the glue goes. I always try to fold the edges under and glue it to itself, like a folded edge hem, then glue that to the body. Helps to keep fraying and stretching down as you work the edges out. Any where you have to place a hole, glue another layer of material behind the area then make your hole thru both layers. Depending on your chosen material, find a glue that won't discolor or seep thru. A good rubber contact adhesive is usually just fine.

There are two things I said I would NOT do on my wagon, one of them was the headliner, the other the windshield. I had a "pro shop" do the headliner, it's great but they cut it short at both A pillars, not happy but it's great otherwise. Total cost between buying it and paying for installation was around $600. Not happy about that!

And then, even though I found a NEW never used PPG windshield, my buddy and I tried to install it two weeks ago and busted the damn thing. Talk about upsetting. That was a cheap ($100) and lucky LOCAL find......not sure what I'll do now.

I would NEVER suggest doing a headliner. But I have done a windshield before, this was just a stroke of bad luck.

I did a 78 hatch a few years ago.  I glued it around the windshield as I did not want to pull it.  I did pull the side windows.  It is really pretty straight forward.  Don't mix up the bows.  Mark them when you take them out.  You just need to take your time when you trim and cut.  Pick a nice 70+ degree day to do it or it will wrinkle too much.  I used 3m trim adhesive to glue.  In addition to the rear windows, I removed the cargo panels.  Good luck
