has anyone moved the front seats back?
« on: November 28, 2012, 10:08:29 PM »
I'm gonna be welding in a new floor and adding subframe connectors pretty soon, I think this would be a good time to move the seat mounts back a couple inches. Have any of you done this? how far back did you move them?  Any suggestions would be great.

I'm only 6'2'' but it is still fairly awkward to get into the driver's seat.  My main problem is getting my leg between the steering wheel and the seat so I thought an extra couple inches would make the maneuver more comfortable.

I moved my race seat back from stock position a bit and much closer to the trans tunnel for better weight distribution. I'm only 5'10" and have no back seat room to consider either. I placed the seat in a mocked up position and sat in it until it worked with the steering wheel and peddles then marked and welded new brackets to the floor pan. I put washers in steering wheel mount to correctly re-center the wheel to the new seat position but you won't need to do that in your case.

thanks for the reply but I am planning on keeping the backseat for now and using the original front seat.  I probably will just end up doing trial and error moving stuff around, I just thought someone might have done it and known how far back you could go and what worked well.
