Has anyone installed a Patriot header & does it fit?
« on: August 31, 2012, 05:35:46 PM »
I was going to ceramic coat Callisto's header but I can get one of these

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Patriot-Circle-Track-Headers-Silver-Ceramic-Coated-1-5-8-1-3-4-Tubes-H8401-1-/330778356289?forcev4exp=true

for $150 bucks already coated & save the other header for my wagon. I just need to know if it clears the stock firewall & stock engine mount.

Looks like you would need to weld a flange on the collector. Then have that coated ?

They do not fit without creating your own pass side engine mount. That big tube that hangs low will interfere greatly with the stock 2.3 mount.
This is the same design that esslinger created and i called them direct to find out if it would fit for me wayback and thats what they told me.
Hooker and headman both made one for the stock configuration at one time. I dont think that they do anymore though..

Nah, I would have made a slip fit connection & used a flat band clamp to seal it up. I cut the flanges off my Hooker headers on my dually 7 years ago to do this & have never had a leak or dealt with collector gaskets ever again.

What brainiac made a header that wont clear the engine mounts? There's plenty of room to run that tube without moving the mount out of the way. Ceramic coating is nearly as much as that header costs already coated which was why I wanted to use it. I'm gonna have to give this some thought.

Well that header was designed for mini stocks. Not street cars.
However, now that I think about it maybe that picture is a generic picture? Check with patriot or call summit racing for verification.

Right you are 71hotrodpinto, that is the same header design that walsh & esslinger have they are made for tube chassis mini stocks, I had one on my stock chassis race car but it had front plate motor mounts and I had to modify the firewall for clearance. That is a full race header, prob not a good choice for a street car
If you don't have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?

Problem solved.....

I found a ceramic coated version of the Pacesetter header 72C1064 on Amazon for $249 bucks shipped. At least this header supposedly fits.

That allows me to use my Ranger header on my wagon & gives me a pretty, shiny one to run on Callisto without having to coat the Ranger header for her.
