Title: General Forum Search Question
Post by: Rob3865 on March 13, 2014, 02:38:38 AM
I do not see a way to narrow searches on this site. I see an "advanced" option that's not too advanced...... unless I am missing something, which is entirely possible.

For instance, right now I am looking for a stock Ford distributor with in a carbureted, roller cammed 302. However, I do not seem to be able to search only the classifieds. Am I missing something?

Hey Rob,

Look for 'Choose a board to search in, or search all' at the bottom of the advanced search...

Hope this helps,

You don't need a brass distributor gear with the Ford cams so any 302 distributor should work.

Right, but you cannot run a stock cast iron gear either. There are four gear types. Cast iron for flat tappets, steel for hydraulic rollers, bronze for billet hydraulic or solid rollers and polymer. The stock 5.0 rollers have to have the steel gear.

..and thanks beaner! That's exactly what I was lookin for. All I want is a stock distributor.

I only knew of steel or bronze (which I didn't even realize I called brass LOL) so god knows if I've ever mixed cast or steel up before.

I've got an 86 5.0 that I'm running a flat tappet cam & MSD distributor with a steel gear.

It should have cast iron. Simple enough fix.
