Hello
I got a 73 Pinto with a trunk. My fuel gauge has not worked forever it has the original tank in it. I am pretty sure it is the sending unit. I am not having any luck finding one and do not wanna take it out until I know I can at least find the rubber gasket and lock ring. My sender has 1 fuel line connector. I have found a used one in my junk but it has 2 outlets . I would like to get a new one what do you guys suggest are there any others that will work like Mustang II.

i never was able to find a new sending unit for my 73 .. i found that a 69 mustang unit was close enuff to make work .. you can use the one you have with the dual lines .. you just stop off the second line .. you should have a vented cap anyway ...

Sscenterprises has it, I used their parts on my old 73 wagon.

This place sells the '69 mustang sending unit and shows it with an "O" ring and locking ring.

Thanks for the link I think I will get it . I just wonder about the wires it looks like it has only 1 post for wire hook to it mine has 2.

i will take a look at mine and see what i did .. you have to modify the unit a bit to make it fit .. the little locating tab must be removed so you can turn the unit to get it in the right location ,, putting it in with the stock tab will have it sitting a bit sideways ..

i`m sure i bought two of the 69 stang units but i cant find the second .. i wanted to post a picture of it and show you the little tab that needs modifying .. anyway my new stang unit has only one gas line and one wire hooking up to it ,, my eyes are so poor i cant tell for sure what color the hook up wire is but i think it is brown with a white stripe .. you need to fix the end of that wire so it will plug onto the single sending unit outlet .. the other factory pinto wire looks to be black .. it must be a ground ..i just clamped it to the metal fuel outlet line on the unit ..a new unit will come with the o ring and lock ring ..my gauge is`nt perfect but it will work and keep you from running out of gas ..

I have had this car since 1987 and the gas gauge has never worked so not perfect would be a huge improvement. After all these years I am too old to run out of gas anymore.

Well it took 27 years but I finally got it fixed never seen it work since I owned the car.

The float had a hole in it found one in my spare parts along with a rubber seal and I lucked out.

That is very true. This was my first attempt at cracking open the original tank. I decided I was too old to walk anymore if I run out of gas. Hope it works for a while.

I just ordered one from 75 M2 that appears to be identical with new lock and gasket. Around. 70 dollars

This is the one I bought. It says not for bobcat on the add but I have it in hand and looks identical. I have health problems and have not felt well enough to install it. It looks the same, how could it not work? Came with gasket.

I don't see any mention about "OHMS" ??, it has to match the gauge, is the Bobcat gauge different??, maybe that's what they're referring to?, might want to check that before installing it???..
