Front window chrome removal
« on: July 21, 2013, 05:45:02 PM »
Need detailed instructions on how to do this. Just the chrome. Cutting all the rubber out to save the good glass.
Need a special tool ?
Part number & name of it if so.

Actually, need instructions to remove all the chrome.
None of it is going back on, but it's in good shape & do not want to wreck it.

This is the tool.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brand-New-Windshield-Trim-Clip-Removal-Tool-/290946461338?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43bdc2ae9a&vxp=mtr

You slide it under the trim from the windshield side, not the outer edge, and slide along till you hit a clip. Then you gently pop the clip while slightly lifting the trim. Repeat about 25 or so times & you're done.

As Pinto5.0 stated you use the hooks to release the clips. Also do not forget to remove the screws that retain the clips at the very end of the lower trim piece. To access these correctly you may need to remove the fenders.

I always highlight & copy my text before posting because I've timed out & lost it all. It's a habit now & when it does that I just paste it back in & hit post.

It will not let me turn the words blue. If I try 27.5 times, it will sometimes turn all I want blue. I can then copy it. But I (normally) have lost my temper before I do it that many times  ;D

I should also have asked how to remove the drip chrome as well (along the roof, each side).

Thanks for the help guys !
