Front Rim Offset for 15 inch conversion....
« on: February 10, 2015, 03:14:13 PM »
I just drilled my rear axles to 5x4.5 and ordered the rotor kit for the front to adapt to 5x4.5.  My car is stock and not tubbed. I know the front ball joint is tricky on these cars and the offset has to be right. Also the center circle has to be right too! I want 8 inch wide on the rear and 6 inch on the front. Anyone with 15 inch wheels that can help me get a rim order right i would really appreciate it. Summit could not help me at all.... I am looking at the 4 .5 backspacing on the rear. And as far as the front I have no idea on backspacing due to going to the 15 inch rim diameter..I really want to get the order right the first time. ANY help would be appreciated to the fullest extent! Thanks again in advance!! Greg.

Go to "Wheel Vintiques.com", page 47.  There is a wheel fitment guide that will show where you need to measure.  I also recommend measuring with a straight edge from the face of the rotor where the wheel contacts the rotor to the outermost edge of the top a-arm. That is also a potential contact point of the wheel lip if your backset is too deep.

Anything more than 3 3/4" will drag on the upper control arm. With a 15 X 6 wheel I would go with 2" to 3" back space. 2" would be what I think would fill up the wheel well with that narrow a wheel. If you use too much back space the wheel will look like it came off a FWD car. LOL
Its better to be a has-been, than a never was.
