Ford & Dodge Cragars....?
« on: October 29, 2012, 07:50:57 PM »
I have these 2 five-lug Cragars off a '68 Valiant I used to have, and I wanna put em under my Pinto.
Could I keep it all-Ford and use a Ranger rear 8) ...or will I have to look into a Mopar rear?  :(

Thanks.
Bought my Pinto in '12, last tagged in '97. Had it on the road (thanks to a $20) spring '14. Tima to tear it apart, fix it correctly this time....and play with the drive train. Got a totally free & complete drive train-engine, 5 speed, drive shaft, and computer!

Pre-72 A-body mopars had that odd 5 on 4 inch bolt pattern that fits nothing else I know of.

Exactly. You would need wheel adapters from 5 on 4 1/2" Ford to 5 on 4" Dodge.

Trading the read end from the Pinto's original to a 4 1/2" Ford (a 9" rear, I presume?) What would be the ideal vehicle to yank one out of? An early Mustang, Maverick..?

actually a rear out of an explorer is what youd want, get 2 short side axles and have the long side cut down to match the short side... its an 8.8 with 31 spline axles and a posi from a 4x4 that comes with either 373 or 410 gears
