Title: FOG yoke
Post by: PintoCDN on February 03, 2014, 09:32:28 PM
Hello,

I bought a FOG gearbox and I need a yoke to complete installation. I need to know where I can buy a new yoke and more infos on model #, etc.
Does Ford uses such yoke on other gearbox?

Thanks,

JG

Well I'll bite at least enough to say I've never heard of the connotation 'FOG', but of course I could be the idiot here.......... ....someone enlighten me............ .......

I never heard of that designation either but it seems to be used by part sellers, see link.  Just guessing it stands for Ford Of Germany.

Sorry no help with yoke availability, Rock Auto and Speedway do not seem to list it.  I can take measurements if that would help.

If that's the German trans behind the 2.0L then any 2.0/4-speed yoke should fit it including those from the Capri.

Well I though the name FOG was well known on this web site. Of all people, the dirt track racers use that name to talk about the tranie and never-never-never do they use 4 speed and Pinto in the same sentence,  Always FOG just like the brits do across the pond.  Look at 4m.net for a yoke.

There you go. I'm relatively new to this site.

The ET trans I'm thinking? Prefixed by year of production, or 80ET for the one for 1980.......... .......79ET, 78ET, etc. Specifically used on Pinto/Bobcat.

Well it is German gearbox as being metric and 25 splines, it is not a common part for Ford. I was unable to find yoke up to now.

Thanks for your input..

I know I gave up on rebuilding one and simply rebuilt an ATX and threw it in instead. I could not find any detail parts to rebuild to like new at all, even though one could rebuild one in about an hour. I figured since trans was specialized to Pinto/Bobcat alone, Ford squelched all extra parts like others specific to Pinto alone to quickly get them off the road as quickly as possible.

At the time, mention any part and the word 'pinto' in same sentence and dead issue as far as Ford concerned. I was told then by Ford parts guy they had dropped all Pinto specific parts to get rid of the cars. Had no trouble getting quite a few Mustang II parts for same year car.

Even my standalone manual trans repair shops who could otherwise get anything indicated there were absolutely zero parts available for those, around 1993 or so............ ........

Used to tear up the synchro' (brass rings) and the 2nd mainshaft gear on mine quite a bit back in 1971/72 with a lot of torque and a heavy foot.  The countershaft  needle bearings used to go bad often too.
At that time those parts were hard to source in so-cal. I found a reliable supply @ Villa Ford in Orange but even then $100.00 didn't go far!
Got pretty familiar with it and could usually have it out, apart & back in the car in about 3hrs only to do it all again in r months or so!!!
Really a pretty tough trans though in my opinion.
