I need parts for my '75....will a '77 work?
« on: January 27, 2013, 05:21:59 PM »
Here before too long (a month or two tops) I'll be getting a '77 Pony Wagon (has a horse on the steering wheel..has holes in its spokes.)  to help benefit my green '75. now comes the questions!

WILL THESE PARTS FIT?

1. I want to swap out basically the whole green interior (everything but the column and auctual dash) in favour of black parts. Seats, drilled steeringwheel, 8-track, dash pad..etc..etc)

2. The roof rack. From what I understand, it bolts straight into the sheetmetal (Nothing used between the headliner/roof.)

3. I'd like to use the full front clip (slanted headlight buckets still has circular bulbs) on my '75 with my stock headlight boxes (flat, hexagon shaped). The grille won't swich over, but will everything else? (Hood, passenger fender, hood hinges..mabte the bumper shocks too?)

4. Driver side inside door release (the rotating part)

Side Note:

I really don't want to see the wagon go to the scrapper-private message me if you could use any of the left over parts and want to come get 'em.
I will not ship..might meet halfway?
No Title For the Wagon

Bought my Pinto in '12, last tagged in '97. Had it on the road (thanks to a $20) spring '14. Tima to tear it apart, fix it correctly this time....and play with the drive train. Got a totally free & complete drive train-engine, 5 speed, drive shaft, and computer!

Everything should swap over.  You will need some threaded inserts for the roof rack.

These threaded inserts, is there another place on the car that'd have them? I'm trying for el-cheapo here.

The inserts are similar to the ones used to mount the side mirrors on the doors.  Not sure if you can reuse them as they will be hard to get out.

The inserts are not reusable.   they are about 25 cents a piece at the local bolt supply.  the inserts have a crush on them and expand to lock into place.  Usually you have a tool to expand them but it can be done using a bolt, washer and a nut.  the fenders and rad support are the exact same so everything will swap from one to the other as a complete group(fender extensions grill  etc, , I think you need the hood latch and support. ) if you want the slanted headlight buckets you will need the grill too.   the unibody is unchanged from 74 on so everything will swap over on the inside.
Modest beginnings start with the single blow of a horn man..    Now when you get through with this thing every dickhead in the world is gonna wanna own it.   Do you know anything at all about the internal combustion engine?
