Dome light

On my '80 Bobcat, when you open the door, the seat belt solenoids kick in, the buzzer goes off if the key is in, but the dome light does not work, no power is applied to the light. Ideas? One fuse is supposed to work all three.

I have an '80 model wiring diagram at work, I'll see how the circuit works and get back to you. You say there is no power so I'm guessing here, you used a voltmeter or test light at the bulb terminal?

Yes, in the roof area you have a ground but no voltage. Weird everything is working but that! Before I tear into it, I thought someone might have an idea.

According to a 1980 Pinto EVTM, the 1980 door switches each contain two switches (1 power in & 2 power out).  One power out goes to the key buzzer & seat belt.  The other power out goes to the dome light.  Suspect the door switch is not operating properly.  Try opening the other door to see if that switch works.  May need to repair or replace door switch.

Both doors same problem. Good place to start, maybe one switch feeds off the other one, hence if the passenger switch is bad. the buzzer and the seatbelt thing would work, but not the light! Thank you, I will investigate!

take your finger and push the door switch in and let it pop back out quickly several times ..  sometimes due to slow action of the door working over the years the contacts will corrode a little and the slow motion of the door opening will not complete the connection .. snap each button a few times ..

i`m sure you know you can access the wires by removing the kick panels to check if there is voltage present going to the switches .

Did you try turning the headlamp knob to the left to see if the dome came on? Uses the same circuit, light blue/ black is the color code.
