1974 Ignition Replacement with No Key
« on: July 13, 2015, 02:02:50 PM »
Help: In our move we have misplaced the keys, yes misplaced to our 1974 Pinto Wagon.  I want to pull the ignition off the column, and replace it.   Any suggestions, and or directions in how to do this would be a great help.

Thanks for the help

I had a similar issue on my 74wagon.  I could also not get the rear hatch open.  I found a place that specializes in early Cougar parts, and they can cut a key from the key code. To get the code numbers I had to take out the drivers side door lock. (its not too hard to do)  I think the place was West Coast Classic Cougar.  Was cheaper and easier than buying/installing  4 new locks.

Had that happen to my ranger years ago , lucky it was it the middle of the day and not on a weekend , called a local locksmith and they drove over in a van and made a key , no key codes , interesting to watch but he did it, but cost me $75 bucks, call around and ask if they can make you a key and the cost , now I alway have an extra pair just in case
