Title: Early rad support ('71)
Post by: fozzy on April 09, 2015, 05:53:32 PM
The rad support has unfortunately been cut and removed (top and bottom) on my car. I've re-welded in a lower crossmember now.

I've seen some pictures of what the upper portion is supposed to look like but I'd like to see some more detailed pics if anyone has some. I'd like to make something as close to what was originally there. I know it is curved or higher in the center. How much does it curve forward if any? What does it look like on the back side?
I'll try and attach a couple pics of what I started out with..
Thanks, Fozzy

Fozzy, if you look thru the pictures in my gallery you will find some. Mine is a 79, don't know if they are different.

Here is my '73. However, the drivers side was cut and overlapped 3" to install a 20" radiator in place of the 17."  So, to the extent that it helps.... .

Fozzy - you are in Canada , if I remember right ?
I know where a 71 is - junk.
To fix yours a junker would work for you....?

You can see where mine was cut some for the top rad hose & over flow hose ?

Yes I'm in Canada, out in BC.

If you know where there is a parts car that has the upper rad support that would be awesome, I'm all ears.
Drop me a PM with more info.

Fozzy

I'll call the guy. Last time I talked with him he wanted to sell the whole car or nothing.
It's junk. Will never be on the road again......but he is the type that thinks everything he has is worth it's weight in gold......

Thanks Reeves
Guys like that end up hauling them off for scrap rather than sell a few parts at reasonable prices it seems.
If nothing comes along I'll just make the upper rad support out of thin wall rectangle tubing..
