I just finished installing a 1975-77 MustangII 8" rear in my 1979 Pinto with 302 and C4 trans. My question is will the driveshaft fit from the 6 3/4 rear that I removed. I am getting conflicting info on this.

Did you have a C-4 in the first place ? If not change the slip yoke to one that's for the T-5 and the C-4. Have you a least test fit it first. Is the engine/trans longer than a 2.3 and 4 speed etc.

Yes, the 302 and C4 were in there before the 8" swap. I bought the car with the 302 and C4 with the6 3/4 rear in the car, drove it home as a matter of fact. The guy I purchased the car from gave me the 8" which I rebuilt and installed over the weekend. I have the C4 trans out and rebuilding that. Just trying to find out about the driveshaft from what I am reading some are saying I need a driveshaft from a Pinto manual car. I am trying to clarify this.

Ok, not sure if this helps. I went from a C-4 ('73 behind a 2000) to a T-5 behind a 2.3. I also swapped out the 6-3/4" to an 8". The original driveshaft fit perfectly.
So, assuming the transmission location remained the same in your car, - if the C-4 and the T-5 (from an '88 Turbo Coupe) are the same length (I don't know that they are) then I would say probably yes.

You should be fine. If you had a C-3 or the four speed than you would have to change. The C-4 and the T-5 slip yoke are the same. You might want to throw on a new set of U-joints while the drive shaft is out. The so called lifetime warranty items are not grease able, the two year warranty ones from AutoZone are, I do not know why but they are. The part numbers should be the same as the V-6 by the way.

the greaseable ones have holes in them for grease ... making them weaker ...

U-joints are done. Thanks everybody sounds like I should be good on the driveshaft then. I just didn't need anymore delays looking for parts. Thanks again.
