drip rail

I have chrome trim on the drip rail. I need to take it off for paint. I tried t o slip a flat screwdriver behind it but I am afraid I will bend it. any ideas?

An old-fashioned can opener with tape on the wide end and work slowly.  NOT the pointed end, the squared off end.
