Does anyone with a electric fuel pump...

have an inertia shut off switch? Since I have a stock one from the donor car, I was wondering, if I should install it?

i put one in my car, if you get in a wreck (god forbid) it will cut power to the pump so your not feeding a fire or dumping out fuel on an allready bad situation!

On my dads 71 we have two on regular switch in the dash and one kill switch mounted on the rear under the trunk as per racing regulations.

When I installed the 5.0 in my StangII I didn't use the "crash switch" at first. I had a power steering line spring a leak, dumping fluid on the manifold. it's a scary thought to see the rubber isolator on a 45psi 80liter/hr fuel pump burning! After that I installed the crash switch, and moved my industrial relay to the console so i could pull it out in an emergency. I also bought a fire extinguisher that day. In short, ANY pecautions you can take to keep your ride from going "up in smoke" is worth the time.

Yeah, common sense was telling me to. I was thinking of installing one like Underdogs dad has on his car. Im still leaning toward the stock T-Bird switch. Thanks for the replies, keep 'em coming.
