Title: Dilemma on what to do with my Pinto's
Post by: Ford_Pinto on November 23, 2014, 03:24:17 AM
Hey guys, looking for some advice here.  I have two Pinto's - a 77' Hatchback with 71K miles that I rebuilt the title on and 79' Runabout (the one in my account photo) that was my first car.  The 77' is a daily driver, but the 79' I started stripping down a while back to convert to a turbo.  I've got a million extra parts for it, including a 2.3 turbo and all accessories, plus a 302 and matching tranny.  Not to mention grilles, bezels, fenders, fiberglass front air dam, dash cap, and so on.

The problem: I'm getting married in April, and already have several other priority projects inline.  I know, I know...the Pinto should always be the priority, ha.  I absolutely hate to get rid of either, but the project has been sitting for a while and I hate to see either of them get neglected.  That being said, I think it's time to get them into fresh hands and get me some money for the wedding and the house.

What I'm looking for is advice on how to best do this.  Should I list both Pinto's and all parts for one price?  Should I sell the driver and the project with parts separately?  Just trying to find the best solution, and I guess at the same time seeing if anyone would be interested in buying everything at once.  Obviously I need to do some inventory before getting too deep into this, but I guess this is the first step.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice.  Also, my apologies if I'm in the wrong thread.  It's been a while since I've been on here.

You'll probably do better financially if you sell the cars and parts separately but, if you're looking for a quick turnover, there's certainly nothing to keep you from listing a "one price takes it all" price.  Whatever you decide, good luck!

I got a great deal on Ebay one time. Someone had a bundle of parts and was selling for one price. No one bid. Someone probably needed a part or two but not all of it. They could not see the big picture. I bought it all for a song. I sold each part individually. The first part I sold covered the purchase price plus some. I sold all the other parts at a profit.

Convince the wife she really wants her own custom Pinto?

Thanks guys!  And ha, if the timing was better I'd like to think she would get her own custom Pinto : )

Space is an issue too...I've become that guy that starts 5 projects and then never gets half of them done.  Not anymore, one project at a time until it's done.  As much as I don't want to see them go, I think I may list them individually and then then sell the parts on here or eBay, that sounds like the best move.  That will free up some room in my garage and carport too.

Thanks for the help!

Where are you located? Id personally keep the driver pinto and sell the project. Sells the parts individually too, itd make more money that way.....
