Difficulties with uploading pictures
« on: January 18, 2021, 04:01:43 PM »
Please advise...I have been taking pictures with my cellphone and keeping them on both my phone gallery page as well as my iPad. For a while, i was able to.upload pics to this Fordpinto.com website to supplement my forum entries. However, when I tried to do so today, it says the picture is too large? They all were taken by my cellphone. What's happening? How do I make it fit?

Happy Motoring,
Dan

I am also having a problem posting and adding photos. Today is the first time in nearly two years that I have logged on and tried to post. I was wondering if I was doing something wrong.

Let me know if you learned anything or a possible workaround. I have several pictures I wish to share.

Thanks and Happy Motoring,

if you check below the text input box where you type a message there is a notation 5hat the individual sizefor individual photos is 3000 mb or 3 gb and a limit of 4 photos for a total of 12000 mb.

depending upon your camera settings you maybe making photos which are up to 32000 mb per photo.

you need to use the software on your phone to either resample and save at a lower resolution or crop the pix to reduce the size below 3000 mb per pic.

there should be some software like studio or image editor on your phone that allows you to do that and it will give you a choice of sizes and file sizes to save the pic.

on android in the gallery there is usually a photo edit utility shown when you display the photo.

you could also use something like photoshop on a mac computer to resize as well..

depending upon

Thanks for the tips. I did see the line on the posting bar on this website regarding maximum size allowed. I just couldn't figure out how to reduce it, especially when I never changed the phone settings. That's why I was confused as the earlier pictures uploaded just fine while recent photos aren't.

I will check my settings and look for the software and photo edit features this evening. I will let you know if I am successful or not.

Thanks and Happy Motoring!

Thank you,  I also saw the 3000kb and 12000kb limits. The two photos that I tried to load were only 2.something mb's each, so I  don't know why they did not work. I will try again a different time.

In Windows 10 I use the Snipping Tool to reduce the data size of photos. I just plug my phone in to the computer, open the picture, "snip" it and save the photo in my "Pinto" folder. Even large pictures reduce to an acceptable size. I'm probably too much of an old fart but dinking around on a small phone screen with an index finger and storing everything in the "cloud" isn't my thing. I'll take my mouse, full size keyboard and  a 24" screen any day.

I will transfer my pictures from the phone and iPad to my work computer to try the snip feature you mentioned. Thanks for the tip! Fingers crossed...
