Color change, or colour change for you Canadians LOL
« on: May 24, 2014, 01:46:32 PM »
Remember Canadian Bacon  :P

OK, seriously, I am considering a color change on my wagon in either orange or a candy red (not candy apple). The reason is since I have so friggin much sanding in the engine compartment, under the hood, and door wells, with scratches in the interior, instead of a touch up, I was thinking color change now. I saw that blue pinto in the church parking lot and the color was awesome. I like 74Pintowagon's orange, so am thinking orange, but I think red would look good also!

Can anyone tell me what they think would look best?

My absolute favorite color EVER on a Pinto is orange.  That's paint code 5W - the same color that's on Art's wagon!

That's what I'm thinking. But then it reminds me of a 77 Vega I had once :(  But it will more than likely be an orange, maybe red though LOL

Yeah Dick, that's what I think I'm going to paint mine. Won't match the color codes, but who cares if I do it right!

My Mustang II Ghia Sport Coupe is being picked up soon :)  Now I can put my bike in the garage!

OK Art, is that really the 5W? I was looking at paint chips:

It looks like a burnt orange on the chart...

Dianne,
When I special ordered my '74 Pinto Runabout new, the dealer referred to the color as burnt orange although it was not called that in the brochure or on the car's window sticker.  It was a somewhat darker shade of orange than had been available on Pintos in previous years.  It appears much brighter when it covers the entire car than depicted on a paint chip.  It's a beautiful color, regardless what Reeves1 thinks!  lol

LOL, since there are no emblems on the car, I get asked if it's a Vega sometimes. I'm excited, but more friggin work now ahahahaha But the Ginger color inside will work fine with either red or orange :)

LOL close to mine :)

I was going back and forth on it. I'm buying some acrylic lacquer for it next week. Yellow or orange, leaning towards the orange though. Color changes are a PAIN, but worth it I guess.

5W is called Burnt Orange. Yours doesn't look burnt though. I worry about it looking closer to the orange on those paint charts. Orange is a no brainer for me if it looks like yours. Your car is 1 year younger than mine, so the paint could have lightened up over all those years, couldn't it? Inside where the sun don't shine, is it as orange as the outside?
