clutch T/O bearing and FORK
« on: July 03, 2014, 08:17:37 PM »
I have a 72 2.0 4 sp wagon.  Was dads.  Prob is with clutch release fork and bearing.  Bearing not releasing, spins all the time, not a cable or cable spring problem, or adjustment.  There's a 5/8" slot for the fork in the bearing, and a almost flat shift fork 1/8" thick.  I'm told there's supposed to be a spring on the fork to pull the bearing back.  Who no's wut dad did.  Got a kit from AZone with correct bearing, but without a spring, fork cannot pull bearing away from clutch forks.  I'm told either bearing or fork needs a 'push back' spring'?  Do I need a clutch fork with a spring on it?  What's my prob?  If so, where do I find one, and what other vehicles are compatible for fork?  I was told the ATP ZA-125 would work, then I was told it wouldn't.  Bearing always spins, tired of replacing, PLEASE help.......

Attached to the back side of the fork, there should be spring clips that hold the throw out bear snug to the fork and hold the fork snug to the pivot ball.  You said the cable coil spring was okay.

Yes, thank u for the reply.  I am missing the spring clips on my fork.  I posted that I needed it.  Know where I can find one?  T O bearing always turning.  Clutch adjustment, spring and cable fine.  Just nothing to push that bearing back.  Summit racing said an atp-125 (mustangs) should work, another guy there said he thought it wouldn't.  Any help would be appreciated.

I could not find one at the parts stores.  There is one advertised to be for 75-79 Pinto on ebay at the moment.  I do not know what the difference would be.

According to Amazon, the ATP-125 does not fit.  Not sure how they determine this.

This is a little disturbing how parts are becoming unavailable.
