Title: Clutch cable for 1973 2.0 wagon
Post by: LongTimeFordMan on October 14, 2019, 09:10:39 AM
Does anyone know if the clutch cable for later model ( 74-80) 2.3 cars will fit a 73 2.0 car.

Or a good source for one

Thanks

Ed

I have a clutch cable out of an 79-80 ESS Pinto that I use in my '73 wagon. HOWEVER, it is connected to an '86 2.3 bell crank style bellhousing. So, does it fit the firewall and pedals, YES. But, where/how it connects to the 2.0 engine/transmission I do not know.

Ok thanks..

I ordered a Pioneer Cable  CA-301 from Autozone ( $40 plus tax) isted as for a  "1974-1980" and bothe ends look the same as the one i have now..

I know that the bell housing end is the same so I was wondering if the fitment thru the firewall is the same and apparently you verified that..

Now all i need to do is figure a way to get the nasty expanding fingers back thru the firewall..

I think I will try compressing them with a tube or hose clamp

Thanks for the assistance.

I will update when the new one is installed
