clicking noise in my rear end...

no jokes please!
I hear a clicking noise when I accelerate. Sounds like a playing card in a bike spoke. Just started a few days ago. Nothing dragging rubbing or loose that I can find. Any ideas?

You probably don't have p-trac there and p-trac will make noise like that on turns first. The spider gears pretty much don't spin going dead straight unless you have oddball tire sizes on both sides to differ greatly.

If u-joint then it will be fairly high frequency to match the u-joint spinning which is faster than rear axles turn.  If slower then look for something as simple as a rock stuck good in the tread, that can do it.

Check the emergency brake cables to see if they are rubbing & jack it up & rotate the tires by hand to be sure it's not a brake part making noise. A bolt stuck in a tire will make a ticking too.

If just doing it at braking then can simply be dry contact spots on the backing plate. Brake assembly begins to swing out of concentric from wear and then the oscillation wipes backing plate dry and then begins to click as shoes touch/untouch.

Check for something rubbing against the driveshaft or a wheel/tire/brake

Topped off the differential yesterday. Took less than half a quart.
Bought some new u-joints and will attempt to install them this weekend.

I've had a clicking speedo cable before but my needle would move slightly with the tick tick.
