I want to get rid of that mess of wires under the dash and such for the seat belt interlock system. Anyone have any wiring diagrams that might help me? I have some of it out now but i need to find out what wires are between the starter solenoid and the ignition switch so i can clean those out and get rid of that little green box above the glove box....

Never mind I got it done :D Just hope everything works like it should. I think it will (except the seat belt light).... i'm pretty good with this stuff. They really integrated that thing deep. It has its own circuit in the fuse box and everything....

Yes I do remember taking out the box on my new 74 wagon back then, one was if you put a box of stuff in the passenger Seat ,it would not crank, you had to put the seat belt on the box for the car to start, always happen when it was raining ,I think it just the two wires you have to cut out and hook together, red with a blue stripe, later I used the wires there (that goes to the button under the hood) to the old box for my tach , and later electric temp and oil pressure gauges, nice to not have to punch a hole in the firewall, later blaine

I didnt just bypass it, i removed it and all the wires to it. And the over ride switch under the hood... and the transmission switch for it (i guess it wouldnt start in gear either?) and the fuse, the circuit for the seat belt light, the buzzer, etc. Anything to do with the seat belt interlock.
Now I have another connector full of wires to remove. I dont know what the world it goes to, but its in line with the horn, the head lights, the dash lights, the radio and some other things i havent figured out yet....

Looking at a 74 wiring diagram, I suspect the little one is for the "key warning buzzer". The big one looks to go on to the "ignition key warning switch" BK-PK H, "head lamp on warning relay" BK-PK H & BR, "head lamp switch" BR, "parking lamps" BR, "head lamp switch" BR, "tail lamps" BR, "L.H. door jamb switch" R-PK, "horn warning actuator" R-PK & DB, "horn" DB, "horn switch" DB, "brake warning light" LG-R D, "park brake signal lamp switch" LG-R D, "ash tray lamp" LB-R (along with other dash illumination lamps).
Hard to put drawings in to words. If you are going to do a lot of this, maybe get the wiring diagrams. Presently there are some of the big 17" by 31" fold out Ford OEM wiring diagrams on ebay, search on "1974 Ford Pinto wiring diagram". Good luck.

Ok that makes sense. Thanks a ton! I guess the buzzers and relays and such are long gone because these wires and connectors were just hanging around under the dash not plugged into anything...
I will get one of those electrical manuals, although I think I'm done with the electrical work after this...

Pinto electrical schematics can be pretty easy to find for free at bigger city libraries usually in the reference section.
I did my '80 and simple but a long time ago. I left the seat belt warning light operational just to keep the inspection guy happy. It cycled off after like 15 seconds or so of key on.

I have electrical wiring diagrams for 71-79 I dont know why theyt dont have 1980 in it. Theyre in pdf so if anyone needs one let me know.
