Carburetor

I recently ordered a Carb for my 1976 Mercury Bobcat with the v6 2.8.  I received one with a port over the fuel reservoir.  My current carb does not have this.  Are these interchangeabl e?  What do I do with the port?

Thanks

If it is like this one it is a vent for bowl, I use 5/16" fuel hose and run it out side wheel well in case carb. ever overflows.    Fred    :)
