Hopefully someone knows the details but I believe the regulators were improved in 76 but exactly how I can't say.

from what i can tell about window regulators teh 71-73 are one design 74-early 77 are another and 77-80 are another one - have used the 74-77 in early doors and worked fine!  77-80 use a square runner not a round one like the earlier years!
hope this helps - sorry dont know part numbers!

Here are the Ford numbers for 73/up.
Sorry, I don't have the earlier numbers

73/76 - before 8/2/76 --- D1FZ 6223201-B  ----  Dual arm window regulator
The Ford parts book only shows one number so I assume it is the same one for both sides

77/up - From 8/2/76 ---- (RH) D7FZ 6223200-A   ---- (LH) D7FZ 6223201-A
Single arm window regulator

Edit to add: I'm not able to do a numbers search so I can't tell you what you regulator fits.

Hope this helps.
I color outside the lines...
74 Squire Wagon - needs a lot of work.
