Title: Carb Settings?
Post by: John Turner on October 24, 2012, 02:44:22 PM
1972 Pinto Wagon, 2000 CC, 2v Carb.   New points, plugs, rotor, wires, points, voltage regulator, fuel pump, filters.  Runs poorly, hard start, rough Idle, major hesitation when warmed up, stalls sometimes.  Put on a rebuilt carb, it was defective, (float problem.) sent it back.   Back to original carb.  I cannot find anything that shows me where the "jets" (screws, settings) and that tells me what the settings (how many turns) it should be set.

1) should I order another rebuilt carb?
2) where do I find an illustration that shows the locations of the settings and tells me what they should be?
3) should I take it to a good mechanic and let them do it?

thanks, jt

John red arrow points to idle mixture screw, I usually go for highest rpm then counter clock wise about 1/4 turn. Blue arrow is idle speed. Spray W-D 40 around carb to check for air leaks when speed increases that is where your leak is.    Fred   :)
