Got it running a few days ago by just changing the battery with a new one
Today when I tried to run it, It would not idle for more than a few secs then die and if you gave it any throttle response it would die
Check the vacuum advance and its alright, so I took the advance line off the ported side of the carb and hooked it to straight manifold vacuum and put
The power valve vacuum line to the ported carb port. Now it runs? What’s with this are the plates in the dizzy getting sticky
Also the venturis are dripping gas, more so after acceleration is this normal or is it a float level or throttle plate positioning issue
Finally the battery is charging its 12.45v @ standstill and 14.75 v @ 1000-1200 rpms and its stable, I want to see if it would stay running without the battery but I do not want to remove it while running in case of damage

Sounds like more of a fuel problem than a charging issue. Your voltages are fine.
On my 78, the disty ran from manifold vac from the factory. It is still this way with the original hoses.
Was your carb rebuilt before? Did you check timing with a light?

12.45 at idle sounds a little low to be honest. On my Pinto the car charges at around 13.5-14.5 at idle.

Unless you have reduction pulleys it should charge at least 13.1 volts at idle which I believe should be 850 RPM. Your idle may be a little low, the belt could be loose or the alternator is weak at idle. Your above idle voltage is perfect.

Thanks for the info guys, also I meant to say the 12.45v was with the car off.
With the cam and all my car likes to idle around 900-1200 rpm anything under 900 is lumpy
good to know that the factory position was on the manifold
I should invest in a timing light, just need to find out how to use one and find the harmonic balance
also is it normal for a slight backfire noise in exhaust, this only happens at idle and deceleration.
On the web many said it was normal for modded cars.

Get a dial back timing light. They are worth their weight in gold.
