Head liner install in a 74 with out taking the windshield out? I ordered a new headliner for the Wagon and then took a close look at the install. Cart B4 Horse. Is there a tool or trick to getting the liner installed behind that seal?

I've never heard of it getting done with the windshield installed. It's glued & tucked in a channel under the rubber seal.

It can be done... however a better question is should it be done the way you want....

plastic/flexable scrapper tool (see picture below) but you'll want to dull it up w/sandpaper and round the edges

used to tuck the headliner into the windshield gasket, you'll need to use glue to hold it in... messy!

When I did my 78 hatchback I had the windshield removed (I wanted a proper install and didn't want to do it again and purchase another headliner) but I did the tuck and glue for the 1/4 windows. I was told by those that had been there/done that that the hope that the headliner staying "glued and tucked" into the windshield gasket was risky and not to expect it to stay glued-in long term....

so you can get headliners for pintos .. my destroyed headliner was the reason i`m about to get rid of my 80 .. what do they cost plus instal ...

I glued one in a 78 hatch a couple years back. It turned out pretty good and still looks at good as the day I did it. In my opinion, it is the rear you need to worry about gluing. Since my car was a hatch, it was not a problem in the rear. Had the car been a sedan, it would have been a different story and I would have pulled the back window glued it around the seam like the factory. I had a glued in headliner in my 67 Mustang years ago. It looked good till the first real hot day with the windows down. The pressure from the air would pull it back from the back window when the glue became tacky from the heat. Needless to say I replaced it and pulled both windows and have not had a problem since.
