would anyone know if pinto rotors will fit a 66 mustang spindle? drums on the front, wanting to do a cheap disc conversion. and keep the 4 lug look.

No, they are different. Pinto bolt pattern is 4x4.25 & Mustang is 4x4.50 so the stock wheels wont fit even if the rotor did.

yes the rotor itself will bolt on (fit however is a matter of opinion) with the right bearings as all the fords use a common distance between the inner and outer races pretty much right up to the sn95 where things change.   As 5.0 stated the actual bolt circle is different and you will have to engineer some brackets to make the calipers work and if you wanted to keep the stock wheels have the rotors drilled for the bigger pattern.  that said the pinto rotors are barely bigger than a 25 cent piece and won't offer much of an "upgrade", omitting the fade resistance of discs over drums the drums will haul it down faster and harder on a one time stop

not worried about the wheels, as I don't have the originals. and the mustang doesn't weigh much more than a fully equipped pinto wagon. all I need to know is if the rotors and calipers will fit the mustang spindles.

Quite simply  the answer is NO.  mid 60's for stuff changes often and interchanges with nothing readily.   Changes to these cars are most easily accomplished with swaps to later model spindles If i am recalling correctly the distance between the bearing races never changes so Yes the rotors could be made to fit with a set of specialty bearings from a proper bearing supply, 65 / 6 mustang drum and disc use the same spindles with small spindle pins, the mII stuff is from the generation of large pins so it isn't direct.  . there are no readily available caliper brackets and nobody ever bothers with the swap. mostly because you can't whip it up with junkyard parts, wheel selection sucks, the rotors are to small for the effort so the aftermarket has zero interest in making one. You are still adding 600 lbs to a car that had too small a brakes in the first place

No caliper brackets alone complicate it mucho. May even need to fit proportioning valve in there too, but maybe not, the small discs don't stop much better than drums.

Once you start talking re-drilling this and that you are away from cheap.

Try www.scarebird. com.  They have some brackets you can use to do a 4-lug disc brake swap.  You buy the parts for the rest of the conversion.  Nissan stanza rotors and chevy cavalier calpiers. I did the swap on my 67 coupe 6 or so years ago.  I like it, no more fading and pulling from the small 9" drums.  The pedal requires a lot more pressure but you get used to it.
