Title: Besides the Pinto, did any other Ford car of that era use the same 4speed trans?

Guess I should mention I have a later 2.3l engine, if that makes any difference. :-\

Since I didn't get one with my car, I will have to find one. And Pintos are not very common around here.  ;D
I would also be interested in any other 4speed trans that will work without mods.

Yes, a T5 would be ideal in the long run, but I am hoping to find something truly bolt in for now. And hopefully much cheaper.  :-[

And to think I gave away a Ranger 2.3 complete engine and 5 speed trans back when I had the 79. Idiot.  >:( But then I ended up giving the 79 away as well. Total idiot.  :'(

mustang.... ive got a 4 speed sitting here.... its a v6 model it came from though,,,, if you can do some research to see if it will work you can have it for shipping... needs a shifter though..came from a 76 cobra II v6

The Ranger 5-speed wouldn't have fit in the car at all, so don't beat yourself up too much about not having it now.

The (T9) out of an '85-89 Merkur XR4Ti is a drop-in 5-speed option for Pintos. They're not east to find anymore, but they might be easier to find than a stock 4-seed. I have a stock 4-speed I want to get rid of, but it needs to be rebuilt.

The same tranie (FOG) was used in some Mustang II.

M II V6 MTX trans is different. Had one at one time. Either the RUG or RAIL I forget which. Not the same at all.

I gave up looking when I could not even run across pieces back in '95 for the Pinto one, which needed a main output shaft. No MTX trans shops even recognized it. Junked it and went to ATX since had one at hand. Of course the 'net has changed all that now somewhat.

Wanting to think that small Pinto MTX came in Pinto only here.......... .....either the WT or ET series and Ford of Germany as they say. The WT or ET is followed by year of trans like 'WT80' for 1980 model.

If this site is correct, the FOG transmission came in a few other cars and with some variations in synchro ring sizes.

This site even suggests a 77-79 AMC used a VW engine with the FOG transmission?

Thanks.I wonder if all those cars listed had the same input/output shafts, etc?
One of these days I need to go junk yard hopping I guess.
Drivetrainpart s lists a rebuilt one for the mustangII/capri for $850 plus $250 core. I think I won't be buying one of those. Might be a great deal, but way too much for me even when I have money to spend.  :-[

The AMC was a Renault engine not VW, we had one. Crackerbox 4 speed. Never got under it to check what kind, the car passed through our hands pretty quick. Used for a field car chasing deer.

I would strongly suspect any M II 2.3 MTX might be one of the right ones. Any others the case bolt pattern might change too, they can do that pretty easy.
