Title: Are there any books for the 2.3L engine
Post by: russosborne on July 04, 2014, 01:58:41 AM
Like how to rebuild, how to hotrod, etc?
I'm so lost with these. That is why doing a 302 or even a 351C would be easier for me, I know those engines. But odds are I am going to have to stay with this one.
Thanks,
Russ

Dave Vizard did a hi-perf book on the 2.0 and a lot of it is applicable to the 2.3 if you just corral yourself to remember it's just another engine. If you know how one works you know them all.

Belt instead of chain, stock engine does not bend valves if belt jumps or snaps, try that with a 302. When valves are cut the stem tips must have the proper amount removed to equal the cut, or valve sits higher in head to stay open and kill cam and follower. Other than that pretty close to half a 302........... ....

All engines work the same, even the PCM controlled ones. All you have to look for are the differences between what is and what was, and the looking process itself makes you more familiar with the process of diving into one you've never seen before.

The wonderfullness of the 'net, see something you don't understand and five minutes of 'net time and then you do.
