Antifreeze leaking into car
« on: November 02, 2007, 10:59:00 AM »
I was getting in my car from an interview and went to toss my notepad on the passenger footwell and noticed a puddle of antifreeze on my floormat. It is coming from the little tube pictured below. Is their suppose to be a cap or hose that carries the antifreeze away or is it not suppose to be leaking. Any help would be appreciated.

The best and easiest way to deal with this unless its cold and you're using the heater is to just bypass it at the engine bay just cut and snip and clamp for the meantime till you take your dashboard apart I've done it its time consuming lots of screws and tiny parts well good luck

What all do I need to take off to get to the heater core or would anybody happen to have a diagram of the assembly around the heater core?

The glove box and the vent and duct on the pass side and the defroster duct  is all you have to remove from the dash. then 2 cables one plug.Under the hood you will find 5 nuts around the fan motor 2 heater hoses and a ground lead.Ahh Almost forgot, remove the air diverter for the foot wells a little finagling and it should come out .The whole thing takes 1.5 to 2 hrs if your good first timers plan on 4+.

I picked the part up yesterday and got it fixed. It took about 2 or so hours whick I didn't think was bad. But this morning I pulled into the school parking lot and my check engine light came on, one of the hoses blew off and sprayed coolant everywhere. :(    At least I keep extra coolant and a few tools in the car.

2 Hrs for a first timer is really good,no problems since you pop the hose back on.
