Timing Cover Question
« on: October 18, 2012, 10:47:05 AM »
Gathering the last of the parts for my 2.5L motor that I am building for my Pinto. One of the items I am adding is the round-tooth conversion kit for the timing belt, and adding an adjustable cam-gear.

For those of you who run the adjustable cam gear, what do you run for a cover? Do you adjust it with the cover off, set it, and then cover it? Did you cut-away the top portion of a factory cover to adjust with the cover on? Maybe bore a hole in the cover to access the gear with it on, while covering the belt itself?

Was thinking it would be cool to run a clear-plastic cover to show off the nicer gears and all, but don't think I've ever seen / heard of one before.

Any input would be much appreciated.

When I get to installing mine, I will cut a circular hole where the adjustable gear is at.  I have seen it done by others and think the look is pretty clean.

I like to cut cover in half just above timing indicator so I can always see cog belt condition.   Fred    :)
