Rotten weather strip and adhesive removal?

So what's a good not kill yourself over it way to remove dried out and dry rotted weather stripping and adhesive on the trunk of my '80?

I use a credit card and some times gas on a rag. A lot of it will peel off if your lucky.
Its better to be a has-been, than a never was.

3M adhesive remover will work good. Saw it posted on another fourm. Can be found at auto parts stores

Forgot will not hurt your paint. But be careful of plastic parts.
