79 wagon Popout window removal
« on: January 18, 2017, 06:01:04 PM »
Ive been installing Autoglass now for well over 20 years and im stumped.
Has anyone ever taking out the popout windows on a 79 pinto wagon without breaking the clips. Any help would be appreciated.

After breaking many, I looked at the clips and could see a little tab on each  side.
The last one I did, I saved all four. It's tricky, as they seem brittle. Just take your
time and be careful. It can be done. Good luck.

As blink77 said it really depends on how brittle they are.  I have had them go both ways.  On parts cars, I cut the back of the pillar off so I can get to the back side easily in order to help insure them coming out in one The good thing is that someone had reproduced them.  I believe it is dennis carpenter (don't quote me on this).  I know I have seen them somewhere.  They are not cheap and I do not think they come with the pin so be as careful as you can when removing them.  Its the hatchback /sedan ones that need to be reproduced.  I have four NOS ones for my hatchback but that is it.  No spares....

Hi, does anyone know where I can get the seals/moldings for the pop out windows on my '75 wagon?

Thank you.

Dick, the Scott Drake web site didn't seem to have any Pinto parts but thanks for your reply.

Best wishes,
