Title: 79 wagon car cover
Post by: johnbigman2011 on September 12, 2012, 02:10:38 AM
I've been searching high and low with no results on the net on where to find a car cover for my 79 wagon. Does anybody have any idea or which one do you guys use on yours??

I don't want to have to guess. Especially when my wife is shopping for it.

Thanks for any help.

I just got this one in the mail a couple days ago for my wagon.

Give me a couple days & I'll see how it fits & snap some pics.

Thanks for that Pinto5.0.. Look forward to hearing about it. I hate leaving it out in the weather.

No problem. I started covering all my cars to save the paint & interiors. I'm planning to cover the wagon when it sits 4 days while I'm in the truck & also anytime it's parked for the day at home.

I figure if I get 2 years out of a $50 dollar cover it's worth it. I know that lifetime warranty is BS. They will honor it but the processing fee is usually the cost of a new cover anyhow. I'm more concerned with fit than the warranty.

It looks like it's cut to fit well but I'll find out friday when I put it on for a test fit. I need to figure out the tie down if I'm gonna use it daily. Rope is a pain so I may try a regular cover cable to speed up getting it on & off.

I used to take a rubber bouncy ball/super ball (small ) like kids play with and zip tie it into the fabric. Then just attached a bungie from the ball to the underside. If it did come loose all that would hit the car was the rubber ball.

I know what you mean about the ropes.

This one has the grommet for the cable lock but I never thought about a short bungee on each side. I'll have to see if that might work.

I live on a lake and believe me the wind blows. Never had to retrieve any of my old ones from the neighbors yard yet.

I just bought a cover from walmart for my wagon. Its a size 3. It fits pretty good in my opinion. The car is now garaged but when it was out side I used a bungee cord under the car between the two grommets and it held on just fine.

qikpnto.. what was the name brand/ style.. or was it just size 3?? Remember my wife is picking this up, and she likes details.. She can shop all day for a dress, but doesn't have much time for looking when it comes to car stuff. Not complaining, at least she will go and get it. :o

Thanks for the reply

Its a Budge Five Gold Star Barrier car cover. They have different levels, as in 3 and 4 star covers. This cover cost about $75.

I finally had the car home to check the cover fit. It's been sitting at work & I've been in my dually the last few weeks. It fits the car OK but it's not custom cut for a Pinto wagon.

I didn't expect much from a $50 cover but it is good quality & should give me a couple years of service. The fit wasn't worthy of pictures & I'm still waiting for an antenna patch in the mail so I can start using it.

Hey thanks for that up date Pinto 5.0. I'll be home Tuesday night and I finally get to put a few miles on the wagon. ;D I'm going to try and get one after the ride for sure.

Hoping to be making a run over to San Antonio for some upgrade parts while I'm off as well.

If you're serious about a really high-quality, custom-fitted cover you might want to check out California Car Cover Co. (www.calcarcove r.com).  Be warned... they are NOT cheap!
