Shelled the C3 and thought I would put in a 4 speed.  Found a 4 speed from a 74 Mustang 2.3,  finally found a flywheel and clutch.  Went to install today and after bolting it all together the throw out bearing won't engage pressure plate , not even close.  It is the D5 case and fork that came with the trans.     Took it all apart to make sure fork was on pivot ball and it was.  Any ideas?  Please help
Thanks, Leon

Just guessing that the throw out bearing is not reaching the clutch fingers.  From vague memory, the Mustang II 2.3 flywheel was at least a 1/2 " thicker than the Pinto 2.3 flywheel (looked ridiculously heavy).  If you used a Pinto 2.3 flywheel, it may not work without accommodating modifications.  Throw out bearings and pivot balls are available in different lengths.

Need the difference in flywheel thickness and add that to pivot ball length. Needs to be pretty close to get correct leverage and full travel of throwout. Or a longer /shorter throwoout bearing involved there.
