Steering Column
« on: March 18, 2018, 11:03:37 AM »
Just replaced my rag joint  after putting it back together it seem the steering column needs to be adjusted down. I checked my manual but it was vague.  Anyone adjuster one? This is on an 80 cruising wagon.
Thanks

Is the Column too short, or is there a misalignment?

Unless the Column safety Collapse feature was disturbed, or the rack was removed, all should be lined up and within the measured specs. Is there excess play in the rack pinion shaft?

Everything went together fine. Problem is that the rag joint is not  laying flat. The manual says if this occurs to pry up or down the column to correct this

The end of the column where the rag joint connects can move in or out of the column.  You might have to extend it out some to make up for the difference.  good luck to you.
