71-73 rear wheel bearings
« on: September 27, 2013, 12:33:03 AM »
Got one that is a little noisy and figured I'd replace it. Looks like it was originally a Timken RWP30YYR apparently unique to 71-73 Pintos.

The only places I can find anything is on E-Bay and I'm pretty sure it's Chinese and Summit but it looks like a front wheel bearing. Maybe wrong picture.

Anyone have another source?

I bought one about 5 years ago for my 72 beater from Napa.  It was not hard to get at all.  I believe they had it on the shelf.

NAPA was my first stop. My friend manages one and usually is able to work miracles but no dice this time. Nothing at Rockauto either. I'll find out if the one Summit lists under this number is really a rear wheel bearing and if not I'll probably have to go with the one on E-Bay.

Thanks. I forgot that I had seen that one. I was a little suspicious of the reference to Federal Mogul because the only manufactures I could find in an older Timken catalogue were themselves and SK. I did notice that the Buy It Now price on the EBay version, (Precision Auto), has increased a couple dollars since I started watching it a few days ago. Maybe they are reading this Forum.
