71-73 fuel tank issues
«

hey guys, ive been trying to get a response from other threads but they are just too old and no one is answering them, i found a replacement tank but the year isnt listed on the advertisement, the shape of the tank seems correct, by this i mean the angled part where the filler neck enters the tank.
below is the listing
http://www.amazon.com/Spectra-Premium-F80A-Mustang-Pinto/dp/B0049QQ49W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1327377143&sr=8-1
if anyone can confirm that the tank will work it would be much appreciated

Well id say that its dangerous buying a part based on a picture from a retailer or manufacture. Sometimes they use generic photos in there listings.
Id say that this could be correct. The tank is upside down and the angled portion is where the fuel sender/pickup is mounted. Id contact the person/retailer to find out the exact application.
Good luck!

alright so after doing a little digging on the manufacturers website, the tanks says it is for 75-76 pinto .... I4 and v6 are the same tank to them. the advertise the dimensions as size:
24 1/2 in. x 20 1/2 in. x 11 in.
US Gallon: 13
Liter: 49
i emailed them, hopefully i dont get the generic BS reply.

before you buy, ask Fred Morgan here. See if he can shed some light on what the difference could be between the years

Hate for you to buy one and one little thing be different enough not to fit.
Good luck!

71 to 73 are the same. 74, 75 and I think 76 are the same. 77 to 80 are the same. Wagons are all larger by e few inches. Fred
Ship cost for sedan tank average $24.00 for Wagon $95.00. Bummer HUH !

is the tank brand new or re-manufactured? does it come with hardware or is it just the bare tank?

They are used. Comes with any hardware you want for free other then ship price will go up due to weight. I still need to see if I have one. Fred
