I've upgraded Wee Beastie to a 130 Amp Sixth Generation Alternator. The thing works great!
Except.....
The alternator light comes on sometimes despite that the thing is charging. I'm always check my add-on volt meter to make sure.
I have a 6 gauge wire running from the alternator output to the solenoid. The yellow wire on the alternator connector is spliced the yellow and white wire also going to the solenoid. The green wire from the alternator connector is spliced to the green wire going to the idiot light. The old external alternator regulator has been eliminated.
I have but one WAG, which very well could be wrong, is that the internal electronics of the 6G are set up so that they are supposed to interface with an LED or electronics module, something with much higher input resistance than just a plain old filament bulb.
